Rhododendron Festival and Sea Lion Caves

Yesterday we went into Florence in time for the Rhododendron Festival parade......or so we thought.  It was suppose to start at noon, but didn't reach us till after 1:00 pm.  It was a good small town parade, though.

There were lots of marching bands

There were soooooooo many princesses.  I liked the little ones best.

This boat has 2  150 horse motors on it.

All the horses had their front legs wraped.

They had really big dune buggies....or were they dune buses?

I like seeing little kids in parades.  They have fun.
My favorite care in the whole parade, a GTO convertible.

Iron Horse marching band
The little engine that couldn't........at least not by itself.

Here they are!

Fire fighter's boat

Volunteer dune patrol

nice corvette

'57 Chevy
old school custom lead sled

The lady on the white horse asked if anyone had an extra cushion because she had a sore butt, LOL

Wait till you see what these guys had in their boat.  I don't think I want to go fishing with them.
I don't think she was a she
Cute little princesses

Here some the clowns!

Live music!  Very loud.
And they saved the best for last.   The old folks.
Hooray for the old folks!!!!!!
The parade is over.  Now it is time to go to the Sea Lion Cave!

I don't know if you can read the next picture, so.....We had to walk all the way down to that viewing area to see the sea lions on the nursery rock.  The trail was pretty stpp, but I made it back up, whew.

Now for another steep trail down to the elevator that will take us into the cave.  And then the climb back up.  I don't do real well with uphill hikes.

Pictures from other side of cave
Then we went back up the elevator and back into the gift shop where earlier we had tasted some of their fudge.  Yummy, yummy, for the tummy, tummy, tummy.

And I bought this shirt.
Then we went back to Florence and stopped at SubWay for dinner.
Today we will go check out the two bead stores in town.
Until next time, God bless.
