As we were packing up to get ready to leave, 2 birds we had never seen before landed near the bus. We took some pictures and they didn't seem scared at all.
They had long blue legs with web feet. White and black bodies and brown heads, as you can see. But their beaks were really different, they were long and skinny and turned upwards at the end. They sat down and made themselves comfortable while we went about our business. A couple times they stood back up and looked a little nervous, but didn't leave. They watched us leave, but stayed there. At least we thought they stayed there. When we got out on the road, there were 2 birds just like these 2 out in the road. They flew off so they wouldn't get run over, but..................were they different ones?........or the same ones trying to follow us?
We headed north on US95 toward Goldfield and Tonopah. We picked up our mail in Tonopah. Roger tried to tell me that MY mail was garbage. I get good mail.
There are some neat projects in these books.
We came up on construction in Mina. Luckily we didn't have to wait in line very long.
We stopped at this roadside heritage marker about Silver Peak.
After going through Luning, we turned on 361.
The scenery was nice and there was even a tree or two on the hillside.
Oh look! A traffic! There wasn't much.
There was even one ranch on the way to Gabbs..
They had horses.
Then we came to Gabbs.
I think the mine supports the town.
This place has some history. Oh, a fixer-upper for one of the grandkids.
Look at these tables and chairs.
The ceiling was covered with one dollar bills with writing on them. Some had names and some just had writing on them.
They even had a phone! haha How long has it been since you've seen one of these?
After lunch consisting of a bacon burger and fries, we headed down highway 50, touted as the loneliest highway. We turned off at the Grimes Point Archaeological area and parked around behind Grimes hill. While trying to park, we realized we lost reverse, where, we have no clue.
This is as far as I have gotten on the poor ruby-throated hummingbird.
There is a little bit of the throat there.
Until next time, God bless.
