Okay, about Glass Beach. The little bits of "beach" there was, was mostly made up of pieces of glass and shells with some rocks thrown in. The glass wasn't sharp, but smooth after being tumbled in the ocean. It isn't real easy to see in this picture, but there was green, dark amber, white and tiny pieces of blue glass.
Not much for beaches, but beautiful just the same.
These are the 2 neat guys I was hanging out with.
Neil said that sometimes you could see whales from here, but all I saw were birds......
I have no idea what this one is....................
...................and bugs.
Yesterday we went to the Pygmy Forest.
We had a nice wooden walkway so we didn't have to walk in the mud. It was rather wet and stared raining soon after we arrived. We walked part of the trail anyway.
You can't see the trees real well. They are skinny and short, but very old. There were a few larger trees mixed in.
Rhododendrons are everywhere around here.
We saw this weird light yellow moss on the ground around the trees in some places. It looks white here, but it was a pale yellow.
Manzenita grows real well in this whole area as well. In the desert we saw a lot of it in some places, but it was mostly lower bushes. Here it grows tall.
Today we moved from Mendocino to a casino near Crescent City, CA. We took highway 20 back to 101 and put up with all the curves and ups and downs. We went north on 101 and part of the time we were driving along the coast. But due to the curvy road, I sat in my chair and took pictures out of the windshield, so you can see all the splattered bugs as well.
And this is my handsome driver. He he, I snuck this picture.
Woohoo, a straight stretch of road!! Amazing!
Look at this curve sign. We've had plenty of these it seems.
A little more ocean.
We arrived at the Elk Valley Casino and parked in a gravel lot off to the side of the regular parking lot.
We found a bear with big hair near the door.
He posed so pretty.
We found this guy in the bushes out front.
This one looks like he is all dressed up for dancing.
He might have been getting ready to say something........but nothing came out of his mouth.
We got a club card, which gave us free play worth $5 and a discount on dinner. We should have gotten two cards because only one of us got a discount. Then I sat down at a machine and pushed the button till the $5 was gone and then we came home. Gambling is sooooo boring.
Tomorrow we will be heading into Oregon. Till then, nighty night and God bless.
