Roger's mom wanted to drive up to Windy Ridge near Mt. St Helen to see the fall colors. We packed a picnic lunch to eat when we got there.
The noble firs had lots of cones.
We met Roger's brother, Jim, on the way up. He had been up there since sunrise to get some pictures.
Our picnic was great. We had fried chicken and baked beans (still warm) and chips and salsa.
We also had tea and coffee. It was cold, but the food was wonderful.
There were a lot of people at Windy Ridge along with a party bus serving food for the group. We found out later that it was a whole group of 4th graders on an outing.
While eating lunch we could look into the crater of Mt. St. Helen at the lava dome. The wind was really cold.
We turned around and could see Mt. Adams. The cloud lowered over the top pretty fast.
Roger's dad really seemed to enjoy himself.
Pictures of my sweetie.
We found some Elder berries.
This is Spirit Lake.
The debris covering part of the lake are trees that were blown down when Mr. St. Helen erupted. The lake was completely covered just after the eruption, but some have already sunk. The rest of them should eventually sink as well.
A different view of Spirit Lake
We saw more color on the way down the mountains than we did on the way up.
Some beautiful views
My wonderfully goofy husband who makes me laugh.
Iron Creek Falls
There were steps to get down to the falls from the road.
There was like a slot in the rock that the water was flowing through.
Tomorrow I will post about the Assembly of God Christian Women's conference I went to and the quilt I made for out 6 year old grandson and the purse I made for our daughter.
Until next time God bless.

How nice that you got Roger's dad out and about for a day. It looked like a wonderful trip and great scenery.
