The 14th and 15th of October,  I went to the Assembly of God Christian Women's Conference at Ocean Shores.  The weather was great, however, I didn't get to walk on the beach.  Between speakers I got to work in the book store.  Four of us shared a room with 2 queen beds and a private balcony.  We had a wonderful view, but this is the closest I got to the beach.

The theme of the conference was "Her Story."  We all have a story to tell and telling it will help someone else.  We had TV screens and the whole thing was being taped.
There were 3 people that told a short version of their story.  One was from our church in Napavine.
We had a singer that had an amazing story of rejection and being kicked out of her family.  She lived on the streets for a while at got into drugs and alcohol.  She found God and got married.  It took them a long time to have a child and then lost him to a bad heart not long after.  Her name was Heather Williams..........I think.  She also has an amazing voice.
Another speaker was really over weight.  She was about to have surgery when God spoke to her and said He was all she needed to loose the weight.  She will be speaking at our Fall Gathering women's meeting this coming Friday.
Our hostess was wonderful.  She even had a great sense of humor.  She decided she was a princess and put on a wig  and crown.  She even had a scepter......I think it had a plastic star on the top.
The last speaker on Saturday was the same gal that spoke at our Christian Women's Retreat back in August
(I am not good with names at all)  Her name is Angela.....
I had a great time, some great fellowship with other Christian women and got to know a couple of women from my church better.  I look forward to next year.

Now I must show you the Amiya Purse.  My daughter, Jen, wanted a red and black "ladybug" purse.  That was the nickname of our great granddaughter who is now with God.  I went all the way to Olympia to look for ladybug fabric.  I couldn't find any with a red or black background.........yellow, blue, green and tan, but no red or black.  So I had to make do.  I bought some reds and blacks and made my own ladybugs and appliqued them on the purse and used the other colors for trim.  I used beads for the legs and antennae for the ladybugs and beaded a large ladybug for the clasp.  I think it turned out pretty good and I also think that Jen will like it.  I like it.  This is the front.

This is a poofy ladybug that I dreamed up.  I had to get the colored ladybug fabric in there somehow, so I used it for trim and on the inside of the purse..
I cut out a flower from some fabric and also cut out some extra petals.  I beaded around them and sewed them all down on the first flower.  I also backed each petal with the yellow ladybug fabric that I trimmed the pocket with, so almost every petal has a ladybug on the back.  I put a glittery ladybug button in the middle of the flower.  That is the Amiya flower.
This is the large ladybug that has the magnetic snap under it.   This gave me an idea for a ladybug coin purse....so I started one.
This is the back of the purse with one larger pocket.
Our ladybug flew home to be with God.
I made a heart shaped ladybug.
Of course there had to be a smiley ladybug.
That white streak is a loose thread that was laying on the purse and I didn't notice it till later.  Also, I have put a frog on each purse. FROG stands for  Fully Rely On God or Full Reliance On God.

I found this fabric panel at the quilt show this last summer.  Our 6 year old grandson, Eric, is really into the movie "Cars."  He especially likes Lightening McQueen and Mater.  So...............then I had to make a quilt. I hand quilted around all the features of the picture.........I hand quilted the whole thing.  I have holes in my fingers from the needles and very sore arthritic finger joints.  The goofy little guy is totally worth it!
I put his name on it. (I need to redo the R in Anderson).
I also put "Jesus loves you" on it. (you can see it better if you squint a bit)
I quilted a road down one side for him to play with his little cars.
I also put goofy smiley faces on the blue squares.
Another wandering piece of thread.

I quilted hearts in the red squares, but didn't get pictures of them....I forgot.
When I was talking to Jen on the phone, I told her to ask Eric if he likes smiley faces.  He said yes.  I asked if he liked hearts......yes.    Did he like roads.........yes.  Did he like cares.........yes!!  I said I made him all of those things.  Jen said he was thinking about that.  Then he wanted his surprise now, but he has to wait till Friday when he and his mother come up from Longview for lunch.  I'm just having so much fun!!!!!

Until next time God bless.

Trip to Windy Ridge

Roger's mom wanted to drive up to Windy Ridge near Mt. St Helen to see the fall colors.  We packed a picnic lunch to eat when we got there.
The noble firs had lots of cones.
We met Roger's brother, Jim, on the way up.  He had been up there since sunrise to get some pictures.

Our picnic was great.  We had fried chicken and baked beans (still warm) and chips and salsa.
We also had tea and coffee.  It was cold, but the food was wonderful.
There were a lot of people at Windy Ridge along with a party bus serving food for the group.  We found out later that it was a whole group of 4th graders on an outing.
While eating lunch we could look into the crater of Mt. St. Helen at the lava dome.  The wind was really cold.
We turned around and could see Mt. Adams.  The cloud lowered over the top pretty fast.
Roger's dad really seemed to enjoy himself.
Pictures of my sweetie.

We found some Elder berries.
This is Spirit Lake.
The debris covering part of the lake are trees that were blown down when Mr. St. Helen erupted.  The lake was completely covered just after the eruption, but some have already sunk.  The rest of them should eventually sink as well.
A different view of Spirit Lake
We saw more color on the way down the mountains than we did on the way up.

Some beautiful views

My wonderfully goofy husband who makes me laugh.
Iron Creek Falls

There were steps to get down to the falls from the road.
There was like a slot in the rock that the water was flowing through.

Tomorrow I will post about the Assembly of God Christian Women's conference I went to and the quilt I made for out 6 year old grandson and the purse I made for our daughter.
Until next time God bless.
