Last Tuesday I got up at 5:30.....that's a.m. I went to the church to pray for 2 hours from 6-8 a.m. We are doing 40 days of prayer for revival in our area. It feels soooo good to start the day that way. However, it is COLD that early in the morning. When I got home, I made a couple of phone calls before Roger's mom called him and asked what he had planned for the day. She wanted us to drive up to Mt. Raineer for the day and she would be ready to go in half an hour. The sun was out and it was not raining, so it was a good day to go for a drive. We found snow and closed roads (due to snow) and beautiful views and waterfalls. Here are some pictures of the wonderful day we had. We hadn't planned a day ahead like we did last time, so we just grabbed what we could find for lunch and left. We had cottage cheese, mandarin oranges, slice cheese, Ritz crackers, peanut butter, tomatoes, tea and coffee. We tried to find some sunshine, but this was as close as we got. This was at Longmire where the administration for Mt. Raineer national park. They also had a small museum.
I tried to get Roger to fill the car up with gas while we were there....but no. Maybe he couldn't figure out how to work the pumps.
We went on up the road and found it....................snow (that is a 4-letter word ya know).
We got as far as Paradise where there is a visitor's center and a lodge. The road was closed from there on. It wasn't plowed. The buildings were all boarded up. The only thing that was open was the rest rooms.
I just don't know why Roger felt he had to take this picture, but I guess it proves I was really there.
It was really beautiful up there.
The mountain was trying to peek out of the clouds.
It almost made it.
I had never seen a fox in the wild and I don't think I even saw one this color in pictures or on TV. It was so beautiful.
We could tell it had been fed before. It wasn't afraid at all and would actually walk towards the cars.
Look at that gorgeous tail!
Just a little bit down the road from Paradise, we found these big icicles. I told you it was cold.
I think this was Tacama falls. I could be wrong. I should have taken a picture of the sign.
See the icicles against the rock? It was cold.
There were sheets of ice on the rocks on the other side of the falls.
Walking around taking pictures I slipped in the snow and fell down. Roger had the nerve to tell me that if I couldn't keep from tipping over, I couldn't get out of the car any more! I just don't believe he said that! It just proves that he is an ornery ole fart.
We saw this beautiful bird there, as well.
A little further down the road, we found this red fox in the road. When we stopped, he came closer looking for a handout. I had never seen a fox in the wild before and then I see 2 in one day! They were both beautiful.
We stopped at Christine Falls further down the road. It was really beautiful. This was a small fall several yards from Christine Falls.
Don't ya think this root looks like a lizard?
We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant on the way home. They gave us so much food we could almost eat for a week! I wasn't really crazy about the broccoli chicken. I did, however, like the pork fried rice and the sweet and sour pork.
Roger's mom gave me a couple starts from a Thanksgiving cactus that is blooming like crazy. I will wait till it is done blooming to plant it. I don't want to shock it and make it quite blooming.
Roger's sister, Carol, made some beautiful table runners.
She does such beautiful work. She made the owls by looking at a picture. She didn't make a pattern. Some of the women at quilt club wanted the owl pattern, but she didn't have one. She is very talented.
Next time I will show pictures of the red quilted bag I made. I sold the purple purse and got orders for 2 more. Also, I will put up some pics of the Christmas ornaments I made for this year..........maybe I should check to make sure I haven't already done that. Hmmmmm.
Until next time, God bless.
