The Rest of the Quilts

Oh, woe is me.  I have started this blog post for the 3rd time today.  I keep hitting something wrong and deleting the whole thing.  Waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that my whining is done I will show you the rest of the quilts from the quilt show.
Carol made this one for her husband.  He likes to cook and does most of the cooking at their place.  He is really good at it, too.
I never really thought about it before I joined the quilt guild, but you can "paint" with fabric as well as with beads.
This table runner has rhinestones sewn or glued on and really sparkles.  I like sparkle.
I particularly liked the purples and lavenders in this star quilt.
Some quilts are made for wall hangings.
Quilts are a great way to use up leftover bits of fabric.
I like the warm bright colors in this one.
This was one of our favorites.  It has flowers and swans in the middle.
This next quilt is all applique.  I might get one block done in 3 months.  That is a lot of work and is beautiful.
This table topper had lots of little pieces of fabric in it.  If you look at it too long you can go cross eyed.  I like it.
Verna and Carol demonstrated the treadle machine for visitors that cam to the quilt show.  Carol also had her fancy modern machine there as well.  They both worked on quilt blocks for 3 days.  They had to be there all day for 3 days.
There were so many quilts there that there is no way I could put them all in a blog.  They were all beautiful and very well done.  These ladies are serious quilters...........well except for Verna.  She makes quilts, but not nearly as many as the other members of the Rainy Daze Quilt Guild.

I ran across these pictures that I had saved from the internet a while back about a mule killing a mountain lion.  If I remember the story correctly a couple was out riding their mules  and their dogs were following behind them when they noticed a mountain lion stalking the dogs.  They stopped and dismounted.  The mountain lion chose that particular time to attack, but before the man could get his rifle out of the scabbard, the mule attacked the mountain lion.  Luckily the woman had her camera and managed to get some good shots.  It grabbed the lion by the butt and started banging it on the ground.  At this point the lion was still alive and trying to fight back.
The mule stomped on the cat, then pinned it to the ground and bit the heck out of it.
The cat was pretty much dead at this point, but the mule picked it up and whipped it in the air again, then stomped it again just to make sure.
Notice the dogs looking on as if they hadn't been the target of the cat's attack.
I had never heard of any animal doing such a thing.  I think I like mules now, LOL.

Until next time..........God bless

Lila

Third try

I changed from internet explorer to google chrome.  It is faster and I like it better, but some things are different.  Soooooooo, both times I tried to post,  I clicked on the wrong thing and erased everything I had done to that point.  Then I turned the computer off.  So here goes another try.

The 16th was our son-in-laws birthday and we had a family picnic to celebrate.  The weatherman was calling for occasional showers so we set up tables in the garage with the big front door open.  It worked really well.
We didn't actually get many showers till later.
We set up two grills under the bus awning so Roger could cook the hot dogs and hamburgers.
The birthday boy seems to be texting  instead of paying attention, but then, it is his day.
The custom is to put a candle on the cake for every year that a person has lived.  I guess P.J. is only 12, LOL.  Our youngest grandson, Eric, is watching his step-dad blow out the candles.  He is the youngest of 12 grandchildren.
Since P.J. is a self-professed fishing addict, I am pretty sure that his birthday wish had something to do with fish.
We also got to see our wonderful little great grandson, Dominic and, of course, his mother, our beautiful Princess Brittany and his daddy, Kyle.
His giggles are sooo cute.  He is not even a year old yet and is walking and feeling very independent.
Dominic and his cousin played with Missy, Roger's mom's goofy dog.
Missy is a black lab/pitbull mix.  She is really good with people of any age, but is very aggressive to other dogs.  She tends to bite them, the other dogs, that is.  She is a great coon dog, too.
This Roger's mom, Verna, and Melyssa and Danny (our grandson ) who are the parents of our great granddaughter who is in heaven.
Those must be new socks, cuz he can run really fast, LOL.  Just look at all those blond curls.
Mom, I told you, I can walk by myself.  And I'm off again!
Hmmm, I'm sure those spots come off.  If only I could get a grip on them.
Yum, ice cream.  Next, I'll wash it down with some of dad's coke.
After we ate, we ended up playing croquet in a drizzle, but we didn't care.  We were having fun.  I didn't get pictures of the croquet players, but I won one game........for real and for true.
This is that goofy dog, Missy.  She's a good dog.
A nice ending to a wonderful day.

This last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, my quilt guild had a quilt show.  They set up in the gym of the Centralia middle school.  Tuesday we took Verna's old treadle sewing machine over.  Verna, Roger's sister, Carol and her daughter, Chantal were the featured quilters and they had 6 generations represented with quilts and related articles.
Carol's frog quilt  Notice the frog arm reaching around from the back on the left side.
This is the back of the frog quilt.  Pretty nifty I say.
Another quilt by Carol.

Verna made this denim quilt using old jeans.  One pair she found at a garage sale that had embroidery and beading on one leg and pocket.  She used that leg for the middle of the quilt.  The quilt is folded to make room for all the ones they wanted to hang up.

The beads and embroidery was done very well and it looked great in the middle of the quilt.
The pocket was beaded as well.
This is one of Verna's quilt hangings that she made to put in the fair a couple years ago to depict the theme of the fair.  She got a ribbon, but I don't remember what color it was.
Another of Verna's.  That is a tiny quilt hanging on the clothes line.
More of Carol's and Chantal's.

Other beautiful quilts.
This is the raffle quilt for 2012.  The tickets are $1 for a chance to win it.  It is so beautiful.
Remember the nursery rhyme about the cow that jumped over the moon and the plate ran away with the spoon?

This was one of mine and Roger's favorites.  The colors were so vibrant and the birds are beautiful.
A close-up so you can see the birds.
Well, I must go for now.  I have an hour to feed Roger and get ready for evening church.  I will same some of the quilts for next time.  Until next time, God bless.
